Greetings visitors.  This site is viewed by many; both conservative and liberal thinkers and all in between.  I belong to a very small group that call itself “Intellectual Conservatives”.  We do not look to argue in the sewer and we are not known for talking behind the backs of others.

There are 3 of us and we all have ties to academe.  The other two are Professors of Economics and they are settled with families on the East Coast.  Each of them is tied to a prestigious Private East Coast University.  We do not mention each others names, we merely mention the fact that we all share a common edcuational background.

I have been a Professor of Marketing at a number of Unversities and as such am published and thankfully held in very high regard by many of my former colleagues.  I am not a Republican although I am a better than even bet to support a Republican when it comes to a National or State race.  I am a fiscal conservative with a social conscience.  As such I understand the politics and demographics of abortion and would rather teach and persuade than scream.

In no way are any of the members of this small group considered Libertarians.  I am not going to embrace any group or organization that accepts the notion of legalizing street drugs.  There is something about the notion that some of the most irresponsible in our society would have few, if any, checks and balances on their behavior.

These highly irresponsible individuals would pose a threat to children, on the highway, in the workplace and where ever else they happen to wander.  My stance does not necessarily translate into a belief that would clearly support the War on Drugs as it has been waged.  To summarily give in to those continuing to enjoy their youthful indiscretions is just not kosher with me.

My values are primarily conservative.  I do not smoke or drink for personal, not religious reasons.  I do take some prescribed medication but all doses are less than prescribed.  I have a serious back problem that gives me access to painkillers but for over 35 years I have chosen to deal with that pain outside the realm of drugs.  I just need to respond accordingly when I am suffering from either spasms or the much dreaded sciatica.

There are some in my small community who choose to attack me behind my back.  Since they never surface long enough to be found, their motives are unknown to me; I must scare them.  I like to encourage people to think while hopefully having a positive influence on others.  I live in a world of ideas and not in a world devoid of light and dedicated to some sense of fleeting darkness.  Get to know me and perhaps the bridge, if one exists, can become passable because of our shared values.  Thanks for your visit and don’t forget to share this blog with friends.

I am working on a number of other amenties for the site, so make suggestions and provide links if that is possible.  I would love to provide links to some of my favorite sites, so help me out on that.  As with me, my blog is a work in progress and if you have meaningful suggestions, thanks.  If you are only about hatred and ignorance I bid you adieu!  For all of the others, thanks for your faithfulness and your many visits over the past year plus on Community Bloggers.
