……….As an alum of Louisiana State University (Baton Rouge, Graduate School) in 1981, I am very familiar with the chant, Who Dat. I heard it at athletic events and across campus at various times. In fact, I might have been the instigator at times. Of all of my Alma Maters, I am mostly closely associated with LSU. I loved my time there. Because of that, needless to say, I was deeply offended when the idiot also known as the NFL Commish claimed to own the questioning phrase Who Dat. This two word chant was being used across the southern part of the state long before he was even in or out of diapers.

……….There is something that is truly magic about the south of Louisiana. It is not the most pristine place on earth because of the industry (primarily chemical plants) but it is one of the most genuine places on earth. From the cuisine to the music (zydeco) everything is rich and fulfilling. Because of that all other possible reasons, you have to love what the Saints did on Sunday. I have seen the Saints in person, at the Super-dome. It was a Monday Night production, in the late 70’s, versus the Oakland Raiders. I am mostly a true fan of the Fightin’ Tigers, aka the Bayou Bengals (thanks to Keith Jackson).

……….I have to say that I am basking in the same joy that so many of the Louisiana folks are also celebrating. I was totally embraced, during my time, by so many families over so many holidays that I could never possibly mention them all in this small blog. I will forever remember Super Bowl XLIV and cherish the time that I spent on the Bayous of Louisiana. All that is needed now is to let the interlopers from the outside be forewarned to keep their hands off the institutions that are South Louisiana.
