……….In a turnaround last night, Senator Ben Nelson, (D,NE), decided that the bribe was just enough to bring him to his senses and cast an enlightened vote for Health Insurance Reform. His tune changed so quickly and the only thing that was given to Nelson and his constituents was a promise related to Medicare / Medicaid that his state would never again be billed for their share of the expense related to the coverage. That was a pretty good deal, considering that Nelson sold his soul (or sole).

……….Considering the chinks in this bill’s armor, that was a very frightening move. In these times of hardship what is a Senator supposed to do? I was suspicious of the Senator’s motives and his behavior did nothing to dispel his rather interesting motives. Just yesterday, a new Poll was released concerning the state of Nebraska. The Poll asked how likely voters would be to support Nelson down the road if voted Yes / No on the proposed health care bill. The results of the Poll showed that 61% of those polled would be more likely to support Nelson if he voted yes. On the other hand, 26% of those polled noted that they would be less inclined to support Nelson if he voted no on the health care legislation.

……….So far none of the deals being brokered has served to benefit the American people. I look forward to the 2010 election cycle and the idea that a large number of politicians at the federal level are going to be left by the wayside. This has to be one of the most ugly bills ever proposed. To even think that such an ugly piece of legislation would get this far in the political process is absolutely scary. It is somewhat gratifying to see the numbers against this legislation continue to decline. We have Federal Representatives and a President who are obviously clueless in this process. The President promised to end the process of earmarks and it looks like, as of now, he has broken that promise twice in less than his first year in office.

……….You have to love this guy, President Obama, if for no other reason, his insistence on being, perhaps, the most disingenuous person in the White House, since President Carter. He seems to engage in this behavior without even giving it a second thought. That is truly the kind of character that I would seek in the person behind all the power of the White House. Dishonesty is not a virtue in my little book of virtues. Obviously in 2008 a lot of voters were doing anything but their due diligence when electing this President. His family and children should be proud of him. Anytime a man stands on principle, or whatever else is available to him, you have to smile and be proud. If you believe that then you deserve what you get and what you will get is going to be less than nothing. You have not just indebted the next generation, you have sold them out. Thanks for that!
