………Barely 36 hours after Senator Harry Reid’s pronouncement that the gang of 10 Democrat Senators had come to an understanding on Health Insurance reform, it appears that ‘Dirty’ Harry was only playing politics. Although Senators are mum on the subject, conjecture says that there was no deal. The strategy now, from the Obama playbook, seems to be emphasis some sort of tomfoolery. I guess that they believe that every member of the Senate, including all of the Democrats, are dumb enough to believe their leadership, hook, line and sinker.

………It seems that there is no deal and all of Reid’s rants were just that, rants. He was definitely attempting to make a deal out of not very much. That seems to be why he would not elaborate on the details. What they want to find out is the cost of such a deal; opening Medicare to people age 55. That would further stress the system as it struggles, to no avail, to gain some solvency. With such a hair brained idea, solvency would never come be part of Medicare. The other issue is that State’s have a financial stake in the cost of Medicare and Medicaid. At this time, the State’s do not need any additional financial obligations hoisted on them.

………Some Democrats, speaking off the record are noting that this disclosure ensures that Health Care will not be resolved in the Senate, prior to the Holidays. A further notion from all of this is that Reid and others may have a sense that Health Care reform is dead and they need to pull a rabbit out of their hat to make something from nothing. Although the behavior of Democrats does not surprise me, I am still always appalled when grown adults continue to lie and feel that it is their right to do so. Republicans need to seize the moment and take advantage politically. After they are able to take power, they need to learn their lessons and keep a close watch on those members of their caucus refusing to deal honestly.

………It will be interesting to see how long it takes before Reid’s ruse comes to the attention of the lame stream media. This kind of skulduggery is not only objectionable, it treats the American taxpayer like an ignorant dupe. I, for one, am going to remember that when the 2010 elections roll around and some irresponsible politicians are on the ballot, I am going to do all that is possible to retire them from politics permanently. We are in a time of danger, with respect to our economy. We have a President and a Congress, ill prepared to deal effectively with the issues at hand. We are very close, in this country, to a tipping point and a few missteps in the upcoming years will exact a heavy toll from the economy. With an effective rate of about 15% unemployment, that is not something that we can afford at this time!
