I have the supposedly known email addresses of the Chelan County PUD Commissioners. However, I find that if I did not have them, I would find it very difficult if not impossible to find them on the PUD’s website. That is an interesting state of affairs as the Commissioners themselves have been engaged in a propaganda war to provide cover for their asinine views with respect to Fiber Optic. It appears that they would love to have the public believe that the corner has been turned and opposition for the extravagance of Fiber Optic is waning. I don’t believe it for a moment. You need to send this link to your friends if you are within the district and oppose the continued waste being heaped upon the electric ratepayers of the Chelan County PUD.

We have an interesting group that occupies the Board Room at the PUD. I am convinced that promoting my Janney to the position of General Manager was to insure that the Fiber Optic option would be transitioned appropriately, as per the wishes of far too many of our current Commissioners.

Now that I find their email addresses are no longer front and center, it becomes even more problematic. If you would care to comment directly to these people, you might find it difficult given that their email addresses have either been stricken or buried deep on the website. I understand that Commissioners like Dennis Bolz, up for reelection, are used to dealing with 9 year old students. Mr. Bolz does not like to be challenged, even by adults older and much better educated than he claims to be, currently. I, on the other hand, consider it my duty to challenge this unabashed joke. He has no formalized business training and tends to act the part of a certified jerk, when challenged.

john.doe@chelanpud.org This is an example of an old email address that I still use. The name has been changed to reflect the general nature of the required format. You simply change change the name with a . between the first and last. What troubles me is that they may actually be using new emails only for those with close ties. That may be a stretch but still, the thought is troubling, considering that these Board Members seem to shy away from the limelight when things get a bit testy.

I am hearing that the same may be true for the EWWD (East Wenatchee Water District). Open lines of communication are essential. If these lines are negated, then exactly how should grievances be addressed in a timely manner. The point, I believe, is that these so-called leaders don’t see the necessity to listen to their constituents on relevant matters. It is like a social club for the elite with all others, uninvited, to keep their thoughts to themselves.

Think about it, you pay the bills, you suffer the financial consequences of sheer lunacy. Is that how you imagined things? want things?

This is one of those occasions where I let an outsider blog on my site. Even though I am going to be listed on the page as the writer, this blog is actually the property of Dixie Dringman. She makes a strong, personal point that I feel has relevance. As the Secretary/Treasurer of a small private water association, I know that given the circumstances, this situation is intolerable, it is unacceptable! I not only hope that the blog gets to the hierarchy of the EWWD but also that it is made available to those governmental agencies that are here to oversee that we all have access to quality water.

For over thirty years, Fred Wiltse and his neighbors have been drinking rusty, silty water. No, they do not live in the outback far from urban amenities of civilization, they live in East Wenatchee Washington.

Each month Fred and his neighbors have to pay their East Wenatchee Water District bill as if they were actually receiving clean, safe potable drinking water. Even though a petition was signed by over a dozen neighbors and presented to Greg Brizedine and the District’s commissioners, EWWD minutes include names and dates when complaints were voiced at meetings and Fred was notified that it was his PVC pipe that was causing the rust not the 50 year old EWWD main connection. Brizedine recently denied any knowledge of water problems in Fred’s neighborhood. During the August 4, 2010 meeting, Fred once again brought up the issue of rusty water mains and unfit water. This time he was told that a filter would be fitted between his line and the EWWD to see exactly where the contaminates were coming from. After five days, Vince (an EWWD employee) removed the filter, which was clogged with sediments, rust, and other contaminants. Vince said he would have the filter at the Sept 1, 2010 meeting for commissioners and Brizedine to see first hand.

The contaminated filter was positioned on a table where it was visible to the district’s attorney, commissioners, manager and other meeting attendees. The filter was completely ignored and there was no mention of it or that ratepayers are being forced to drink dirty water. Would Brizedine, McCourt, Foreman and the others present at that meeting be willing to drink and cook with the water coming from that water? Maybe Fred should offer to furnish the ice water for the next meeting……

For the first time since 2004, the Seattle Storm, led by Lauren Jackson & Sue Bird are back in the WNBA finals. It was during the 2004 season that the team won its first and only WNBA title. This season has seen the team garner accolades from across the board.

So far, the Storm has swept both of their series, 2-0. Earlier in this contest with the Mercury, the Storm found themselves down by as many as 19. Toward the end of the 3rd quarter they mounted one of their now classic comebacks. With 23.7 seconds left, the score was tied at 88 to 88 and the Storm had the ball. The plan was to hold the ball for the last shot so that the worst case scenario would be overtime. With 2.8 seconds on the clock, Sue Bird hit a 3-point shot giving the Storm the lead 91-88. In the end, the Mercury’s Diana Turasi was left with a long off balance 3 that hit the back of the rim and bounced off. That miss gave the Storm a sweep in front of a hometown Phoenix crowd.

Now the Storm await their competition. The WNBA finals begin next Sunday in Seattle. The Storm will be well rested as they bring the League’s Most Valuable Coach (Brian Agler) and Most Valuable Player (Lauren Jackson) in search of their 2nd Championship. The game will be available on ABC television.

Shirley Sherrod definitely adopts the rant of the radical black left. Whether she had experienced a quasi racial epiphany or not, her words sound very racial to me. I am sorry that her father was murdered. Murderers, regardless of race are a very ugly and useless breed.

“He took a long time talking but he was trying to show me he was superior to me — I knew what he was doing.” These are the words of Sherrod, as if she had the all knowing power to see into this man’s heart. Having listened to Sherrod repeatedly, I am not convinced that I would trust her instincts. I understand the bitterness but her comments at the time were relentless and uncalled for.

“But he had to come to me for help. What he didn’t know, while he was taking all that time trying to show me he was superior to me, was I was trying to decide just how much I was going to give him.” Again, she was distracted by the hate in her heart so she was really attempting to make the pieces fit for her benefit, not that of her client. Again, justified or not, she closed ranks and interjected her age old racial bias. I am just upset that she now prances around like she was the only person wronged. Perhaps her story was about a lesson learned.

Frankly, based on the tone of her story, I would say that she still harbors feelings of resentment, directed toward an entire group of people (whites), as opposed to a class of people, criminals. People who tend to embrace race, tend to embrace racism. I have noted previously, that I embrace the individual, not the collective group. No race has a lock on piety and no race has a lock on the notions of irreverence or evil. Those traits are strictly part & partly individualized. I hope that you read the transcript from the following link and understand that we need to all become better communicators and more thoughtful people.

Tonight’s game was the 136th of the Seattle Mariners lost season. Fortunately, their leadoff hitter, Ichiro Suzuki, had a two hit night (175 & 176, 2206 for his MLB career) during a loss to the Indians at Safeco field

The All-Star right-fielder for the M’s is now almost a sure bet to reach the 200 hit milestone for the tenth straight year of his MLB career. Given the fact that Ichiro has 56 multi-hit games this season, it would seem that 200 is going to be a snap, barring any unforeseen circumstances. By season’s end, Ichiro should break into the top 200 MLB hitters of all time. He is currently around number 210 (probably a few slots higher) on the list and shows no signs of letting up in his 10th season. The 37 year old Japanese native is definitely making his mark as one of the games premier hitters, ever.

As of today, Ichiro is just 260 hits away from cracking the top 100 in terms of MLB hits. One would expect that by the end of this season he would have narrowed that number down to a manageable 220 hits or less. Within the next two seasons Ichiro should be among the top closing in on the top 50 in hits of all time. It remains to be seen if he will be able to maintain a pace for 3000 hits but I would not bet against him at this time.

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=jp-ichiro082809 here is an interesting piece that I found discussing Ichiro a few years ago. You might wish to take a look at it and then tell your interested friends to stop by and read it as well. Enjoy!

In the upcoming election the House Democrat leadership is beginning to reassess its position. They are now willing to cut loose those House members who are performing poorly in the polls. All of this in the hope that they will be able to salvage enough of the seats in play to maintain a small majority.

Finally the screwballs in their leadership like Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House, (D CA) & Chris Van Hollen, DCCC Chairman, (D MD) have admitted privately that they are in for a world of hurt in the November elections. The trouble with their overall strategy is that they have literally nothing to run on. Given another term in the majority, they will engage in the same silly legislative attempts, pushing America even closer to the edge of the precipice.

I hope that Republicans have learned their lessons from past indiscretions. Far too many of the Congressional members just do not get it! The writing was on the wall early and yet, so many of them decided that it was a relatively safe bet to follow the President as-well-as their Congressional leaders.

Oh well, there is never any accounting for such poor taste when it comes to governance. The Blue Dog Democrats have once again demonstrated that they are sick puppies. With the likes of Bart Stupak (D MI) retiring, one might actually think that they would learn to be more single minded and more committed to their cause. However, that is just not the case when it comes to left-wing politics. They dig their heels in and ultimately most of them collapse. A true Blue Dog would ultimately disavow party ties and either claim Independent status or switch parties completely. There is just no accounting for good solid decisions coming from that particular group.

Recently, more conservative elements of the right had to pressure the NRA to withhold its recognition of Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid (D NV). It seems that the policy of the NRA only revolves around 2nd Amendment issues. In the case of a Senator Reid, he can do significant damage prior to negatively impacting our second amendment rights.

Thankfully, the folks at the NRA finally got that message. Now they need to get other messages about legislators who are just plain dangerous when it comes to the rights of America’s gun owners. I can scroll through a long list of uber liberals supporting hunters and looking good on that single issue. Unfortunately, upon further review it becomes painfully obvious that they are not as solid at they might first appear with respect to our overall rights.

I hope that those at the NRA use this as a learning experience to note they need to work harder at serving the total needs of their members and even the non-members such as me. I have pistols and rifles and possess a concealed carry permit, out of Utah, as a non-resident. I value my right to legally own, possess and carry my weapons. I want our gun laws to be enforced and I further demand that law enforcement and the courts assess the most strict penalties for those who would abuse the rights granted us by the 2nd Amendment.

For the majority of the thinking world, it should now be quite obvious that elections have consequences. In a relatively short period of 19 months our President and his cohorts in the Congress should be very proud of themselves and what they have accomplished. Just today (9/03/10) Senator Wyden (D OR) was acting and talking like a lifelong opponent of what is now known as ObamaCare. Like many other liberal and moderate democrats, he is sprinting toward some semblance of the middle.

George W. Bush was not my favorite example of a fiscally conservative leader. Now that I am able to compare his performance with that of the so-called Messiah, I am at least more pleased with the last 3 years of the Bush 2 administration.

This President is a liar, he seems to disrespect all of those around him, particularly women and he is clueless when it comes to simple economic common sense.

I have not appetite for those politicians with no strong moral base. This is not a base that goes to family, friends or even caring. This is a moral base that understands the consequences of silly Marxist postulates. This is a moral base that understands what is necessary to perpetuate the world’s greatest economy ever. In his own neighborhoods the President has brought both financial & economic pain like they have not felt in more than a generation. He surrounds himself with “YES” men and women while he twiddles his thumbs barking orders that make absolutely no sense.

So many in the Congress are now in full retreat. Barack Hussein Obama has done in nineteen short months what the mighty Republican Party could not have accomplished over decades. This President is woefully incapable of any kind of bi-partisan initiatives. He is so unprepared to be our President that it makes a grown man want to weep. He is so full of himself that he cannot come to grips with the extent of his inept ability. Character is not a trait that I would use to describe this caricature of a leader. He is a character of sorts, it is the trait of character he so sorely lacks.

………This is the republished version of the original. The original retains only the first paragraph and the original comments. This is one of my most read blogs of all time. I wrote it in early July (‘09) and it still draws a crowd occasionally. Enjoy!

………The excitement emanating from our nation’s capital is so intriguing that it reminds me of the fairy tale Snow White. The problem is that this epic portrayal is far more a nightmare than it is fairy tale! It would seem that we are only having talk about taxes, taxes and more taxes. Then we have the perfunctory explanations that a $.10 charge per can of soft drink will help curb obesity. Who in the world is most obese in this picture?

………If I were a betting man I would argue, I believe successfully, that our federal government is the one true obese character in this melodrama. This in no way forgives those parents who do not adequately control the eating and exercise behaviors of their younger children. However, when you are watching the greatest economy in the history of the world meltdown and the politicians are so busy concocting new spending programs that they can hardly take a moment to watch as the bow of the ship drops below the surface, you are left to wonder.

………Shame on those of you with your hands out, crying because you have to work for your keep. That is the America I grew up in; poor and happy but never content with the status quo. I was never content with my position in life. It had no influence on me that on one side of my family there were no college graduates. It had no impact on me that education was not necessarily the key to financial success. What motivated me then and what motivates me now is the richness and fullness of a true learning environment. I love an environment where planning and honesty are ever present. I love an environment where people understand that timing can be the most important element of the overall process. Life is a journey rather than a destination.

………I detest a process where ideologues take over and have no notion of a svelte program. Further, they have no notion of belt tightening and working to make sure that each expenditure over achieves. It is foreign to me the mindset that calls to literally throw money at problems and then walk away. I am a devotee of Kaizen. This is the Japanese notion that you need to do more with less. While you may increase your budget you are also called to incorporate intelligent design changes, etc. that will ultimately keep the overall costs down. I would love to see our politicians at all levels explicitly describe the process and explain why it should work.

………To understand at least part of any success you need to understand issues about learning curves and one’s involvement with specific projects or the end product. Many Japanese companies have become world leaders by exercising this relatively simple tenet of Kaizen; Toyota, SONY, Matsushita, etc. It’s time that we hold our government’s leaders to a more stringent, rigid standard. We can no longer afford sloppy mismanaged government initiatives from leaders who appear to slip by based on some notion of a charismatic presence. Words may play a role but they will continue to ring hollow if there is no substantive plan to ultimately back them up!
