……….Multi-tasking is one of those buzz words that pseudo intellectuals love to toss around when discussing today’s generation of children. State of the art computers are able to multi-task because of the chips that have been installed to operate those machines. Humans, unfortunately for some, are not machines. Humans are subject to distractions and whims that do not impact the productivity of machines. Simply stated, the analogy of multi-tasking should not be applied to the human condition. ……….Within the past few days I posted blog number 1,000. In some ways that is a real milestone in the first 250 days of my blog. Only one time that I can recall, did I not post at least one blog for the day. That was a week or so ago and I had some other issues that kept me from doing what I had grown accustomed to doing on a rather regular basis. I have a lot of subjects that I am anxiously looking forward to posting particular blogs. I will be writing a number of pieces about local politics and the cost of ignorance. I will blog about our local County Port Commission and their silly real estate deals over the past decade plus. They have clearly demonstrated that they have no idea about how to manage or promote economic development. With tax monies from property taxes and the state, the monetary aspect has not been a hindrance thus far for these clueless political types. Read the rest of this entry »
………. Earlier today the President made an appearance at a retreat for House Republicans being held in Baltimore, MD. The President actually fielded questions from the Republican members of Congress. Some of his responses caught my attention if only because they were rather silly and demonstrated some of the issues that Republicans have with this White House. In one sense the President’s demeanor and willingness to be a little bit more honest indicate to me that he has come to grips with the mood of the nation, at least minimally. ……….As the end of the President’s first year approaches things are beginning to clear up as the competency of the nation’s first minority President. He has been graded by newscasters, others and himself. He obviously sees his reflection through rose colored glasses. He has an administration that is dotted with very iffy people. Rahm Emmanuel, his Chief of Staff, has been implicated in the failure of both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The Congress has been irresponsible in its handling of the many economic problems that our country faces. Read the rest of this entry »
……….Taking unnecessary risks can cause great consternation among the general population. These risks can also mean that specialized search and rescue teams are not only put into dangerous situations but tremendous dollars spent bringing them into the search. On Mount Hood (North central Oregon) this past weekend 3 Seattle area hikers sent a text message that they were in distress around the 9,000 foot level of the mountain. One of the hikers was found dead over the weekend. The other two hikers have not been heard from and the weather has gotten nasty, fairly normal for this time of year. Read the rest of this entry »
………In case you didn’t notice, a couple of things happened recently. First and foremost the Pope announced the elevation (canonization) of five people to Sainthood. Among them was Father Damien, the priest who dedicated his life to the leper colony on Molokai (the Hawaiian Islands). Among the most notable of those missing were former Vice President and Global Warming guru Al Gore and President Barack Obama. Obviously the Vatican missed the message on both men. President Obama should be sainted solely based on what his plans entail for crippling the world economically. You could characterize this man’s potential as miraculous Read the rest of this entry »
………It has been shown that if the Baucus bill were to see the light of day, that in the first ten years of benefits being paid out, the total additional cost for this boondoggle would be closer to $1.3 trillion, rather than the $828 billion previously noted. Unfortunately, many of you are either not paying attention or you just do not care! Read the rest of this entry »
………VAT (value added tax) taxes are popular in Europe. What makes them so popular with the governments levying them is that they are usually significant (10% to 20%) and they are, in a sense invisible. When a country implements a value added tax, what they do is tax each step of the manufacturing process. In the end, this tax is merely applied to the MSRP (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price) of the product(s) involved. Read the rest of this entry »

………During his 5:00 PM EDT program, Glen Beck showed compelling video that would lead an honest person to believe that somewhere in the neighborhood of 2 million people gathered for this event on event on Saturday, you will have to decide for yourself once you do your work.
………The size of the 9/12 event held today (Saturday) in our Nation’s Capital was a surprise to many, even those on the other side of the debate. I have not heard any estimates but those reporting the event were talking about the number as being in the thousands, tens of thousands. I am sure that the organizers of the event did not want to get carried away with any estimates but it would be safe to say that the overall number was big, very big. Read the rest of this entry »

GSE is a coined phrase that was initially used to refer to those two pillars of Government aka Ginnie Mae & Freddie Mac. Remember those two quasi-governmental agencies that were actually the beneficiaries of the largess brought out by Congressman Barney Frank (D,MA) and Senator Christopher Dodd (D,CT). Those two less than honest men almost singlehandedly with the complicity of others cost the American taxpayer hundreds of billions of dollars. Read the rest of this entry »
