Today, on Capitol Hill, the members of the House Ways and Means Committee literally took Steven Miller, Acting Head of the IRS, to the woodshed. I was particularly impressed with the line of questioning put forth by two Republican Congressmen. First was the line of questioning by my Congressman, Dave Reichert (R-WA08). Even more impressive was the scolding administered by Congressman Mike Kelly (R-PA). Kelly was so impressive that he actually got a standing ovation from many in the audience. Both Reichert and Kelly displayed a professional passion that I don’t often witness while watching Congressional hearings. Read the rest of this entry »

In some circles wolfdogs are popular. I have known, casually, a few wolfdogs over my lifetime. One of those dogs I happen to know locally. She is young, loving and sweet; the perfect pet. If you want to browse the website, click here. The photos show a very nice array of wolfdogs. They are pricey but very loyal pets and bright. That is more than many of you get from your co-workers, relatives and neighbors. Read the rest of this entry »

There is no free lunch. We need to remember that the promises of the left are going to be paid off the backs of our youth. As they continue to support silly propositions that sound good to both the ignorant and the uninformed, we might be better able to make our points after some of the Obama legislative initiatives are enacted. They should love the higher medical costs, with fewer care options & opportunities available. In the end, what we really need are younger Americans to wake up and become responsible earlier in life. It appears that West Fertilizer Co. of West, TX outside Waco, TX was not complying with the law. After the tragic explosion it seems that the DHS did not even know that they exist. The amount of ammonium nitrate on hand was calculated to be was 1,350 times what would normally trigger a safety check by the DHS. Since they seemingly had no record of the company there could have never been any kind of check triggered. Janet Napolitano needs to be Fired! She is one of the most incompetent in the Obama Administration. Read the rest of this entry »

Example 2 comes from my friends at Purdue University. It involves an intern from the University, working in California, looking to learn from some on the job training. What a lesson this intern learned. In the end no corporate lessons were learned and a couple of really stupid high rollers felt better because an intern had done his / her job according to company policy. What should have taken place is a complete overhaul of the protocols after an intense debriefing of the CSR reps at the call center. Can you say really stupid? More experienced, CSR types might have a solution wrapped up in their tool kits. Interns are their to learn and thus don’t have the leeway nor the experience. Fire the manager! Here is the SNOPES take on this report. Please read their report carefully and do not, I repeat, do not attempt this on your own. This will definitely cause injury and perhaps death under the worst of circumstances. I am posting this as a warning in case you see such a thing on your property or elsewhere. You do not want to put either you or family members in imminent danger. The results could definitely be catastrophic. Read the rest of this entry »

I am stunned by the photos I am seeing of the landslide that hit part of Whidbey Island the other day. I have been to and around Whidbey Island a number of times over the years and it is a fantastic place to spend time during the summer. The size of the landslide is unbelievable. They said on the local news that the soil that broke off was the equivalent of 40,000 dump truck loads. Now we must wait to see how unstable the ground remains. I am not a geologist and do not purport to play one on my blog. However, if I lived in one of the surrounding homes, I would be dealing with the realities of the situation. This Sunday we will once again spring into daylight saving time. At 2:00 AM, officially, we will immediately move to 3:00 AM. That will give us an extra hour of sunlight in the late afternoon, early evening hours. Don’t forget to set your clocks ahead. I will begin the process on Saturday afternoon. The loons never seem to take note when the President says, “I will sit down with anyone and go over the proposed bill or whatever, line by line.” Then when a request is made, that request goes unanswered. What kind of creeps don’t see the lies being forged by this White House in terms of what they are actually willing to do. This President says one thing, then does another. He is lazy, dishonest and definitely beholden to his monied interests. Read the rest of this entry »

Rising prices impact those less fortunate, the most. They are seeing an ever larger bite taken out of their discretionary spending for essentials like gasoline. On the President’s first day in office the national average for gasoline was $1.84 per gallon. Today, just over four years later, we can celebrate an average price per gallon of $3.74.
